Hot Tub (Onsen)

In Japan, soaking is a daily ritual, not a luxury. Warm water relaxes the body, steadies the mind, and brings everything back into balance.

Sauna

Heat is used to listen to the body. Dry warmth draws attention inward, sharpening awareness and slowing thought. Sweat releases what the day has accumulated.

Cold Plunge

Cold follows heat to restore balance. Brief immersion wakes the body, clears the head, and resets the nervous system. The contrast brings clarity.

Recovery Space (Totonou)

Rest is where everything settles. After heat and cold, you sit in stillness and let the body recalibrate on its own. This is where Totonou happens.



TOTONOU (toh-toh-noh)

ととのう

Totonou is a uniquely Japanese word. There is no single word in English that fully captures its meaning. It describes a state reached through heat, cold, and stillness, when the body softens and the mind becomes clear.  In a city that never slows down, Furoya offers something rare. A quiet place designed for focus, not noise. With Japanese Onsen, carefully calibrated sauna and cold plunge, and ample space to sit, breathe, and be alone, every detail supports this moment of reset. This is not a social bathhouse. It is a place to step away, recalibrate, and return to yourself.





YOUR ENERGY GENTLY RETURNS




HOW TO TOTONOU



Sauna
Step 1:

Enter the dry sauna and remain until your body begins to sweat evenly. Keep your breathing slow and steady as you relax your muscles. The heat penetrates deeply, warming the body and preparing it for release.

(8–12 min)


Cold Plunge
Step 2:

Step directly into a cold plunge or cold shower at approximately 15°C / 59°F. Focus on calm breathing as your heart rate increases. The cold stimulates circulation and leaves the body feeling sharp and awake.

(1–2 min)


REST
Step 3:

Sit or lie down in a quiet space with fresh air. Allow your body to settle back into its natural rhythm. This is when “Totonou” occurs, as the mind clears and a deep sense of calm gently takes over.

(5–10 min)
